Bad place
It is a disgusting room, ants every where, on the bead, floor, in the shower. You need to climb 200 stars to the room. There is a mold in the shower, in the kitechen. I ordered this place to 6 nights and we had staying there only one night and change to other hotel. They didn't accepet our compliances and told us to talk with the hotels site where we did the reservation. We didn't get the money back so don't do my mistake.

I was very disappointed from the minute we arrived When we got there we tried to contact the lodge and they would not respond to our calls or texts there was no access to the lodge we were dropped on the road maybe half a mile away then you had to go down a very small ally to the beach then the lodge was 300 meters down the beach they sent a driver on a motorcycle after we got a local to phone them with a phone number he had me and my wife and two suitcases we walked and they took our bags When we got there they took us to the room it was 110 steep steps up the side of the cliff I am 62 with a bad back and my wife has asthma we had to stop halfway up to catch our breath Then when we got there it looked old and rundown and dirty nothing like the photos we saw when we booked the room I told the guy that showed us the room there was no way we could be going up and down the steep stairs 3 or 4 times a day and asked for a refund He said we had to contact Expedia for a refund then he said he had a room on the main floor for one night that we could use instead we could not get a cell signal and the internet was not working bso we could not get ahold of Expedia The room on the main floor was just as bad dirty and smelled funky we left and found a room back at the main road for the night and another the next day for two more days Very disappointed all the way around don.t go there unless you are in very good shape and up for the long climb up

DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE!!!!
This was a horrible place to stay for a few reasons... 1. False Advertising!!!! The pictures of the room on this website do not reflect the condition of the room. The room was gross, ants all over the bed, holes in the corners for bugs to come in, mold in the bathroom, the bed frame was gross and really old, the mattress was this old blue foam thing with bugs and on and on. I felt so bad because I let my girl choose anywhere she wanted and she chose based on the photos and they were all lies. You will be in a disgusting place with no refund possible. 2. No WIFI ... Yeah they have a password and account, doesn't work even when connected. They said too many people are using it... 3. Hot Water....To make the hot water work, you need to hold the shower head on floor, then pick it up and it works for the next few seconds. Keep doing this until clean. Sometimes there was no hot water at all. 4. No water on the last day....Yup they said something about pumps... 5. No room service for five days....Yup...I had to find someone to ask for everything. One time a girl was mopping the floor. I asked her for clean towels. She said she didn't work there...The restaurant and hotel are separate.. 6.Noisy...There is a restaurant there. Right next to your rooms with loud speakers. The music shuts down around midnight. Overall, this was a horrible experience. Dirty, old, bed bugs, no room service, horrible shower, no wifi and the pictures were all lies. I stayed in room 3C

Don't expect more than a nice view
The view was lovely once you'd climbed the winding 105 steps up to the crow's nest, which was frankly knackering. We kept the climb to a minimum. 3 times was enough. The room was basic. We were expecting basic - but not quite that much. The bar and restaurant were shut when we arrived and we asked for a glass of water when we arrived but were told everything was shut so no. Nice start. We knew from that moment on we were on our own - and we were right. No breakfast in the morning as apparently everything was still shut, but we were cheerily directed to a nearby place for breakfast - a nod to some semblance of customer service. All in all a bit more customer focus would be super. Don't come here if you get vertigo.

We booked four months in advance based on the photos and reviews from people previous to us. We arrived to find the place was being renovated and nobody had informed us. To make matters worse, the manager still took us to our room, which was absolutely disgusting, and nowhere near the quality pictured in the photos. Mold, exposed wires, stains, foam furniture, exposed nails, bugs, and filthy. After talking to the manager he apologized and said he would refund us the money. Two months later we have only received 1/3 of the amount owed. Do not trust this property, do not stay here. There is no beach outside, instead, there's a cemetery on the adjacent property.

Close to downtown but far enough away
The location is close enough to downtown that, that is a plus. Away from the noise but also an easy walk. We had drinks each night on their beach side bar and the sunset was spectacular and the mango smash is an excellent drink. However the internet was negative and rooms were just ok. There are 6 rooms in this hotel. The one pictured of course has an amazing view so clearly request that room, however only 1 in 6 will get that one. My room was hundreds of steps (seriously) up the hill at a steep incline, however there is no view. All in all it was a good experience.

Don’t miss out!
Amazing stay at Makulay! We stayed in the Loft - 100 steps to the room but wow, what a view! Well worth it if you’re up for the climb. Staff were wonderful, attentive and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Great location too, refreshing to be out of the main town, but only a few mins walk if you want to venture in.

Beach is non functional . Dirty .
This hotel room needs a major upgrade . It is very uncomfortable to stay in this place . From bed to toilet . It’s all not worth paying that much . The beach is just a word beach , not functional . The shore is dirty and full of rocks . It even smells . Will not stay in this place at all again .the staff is super friendly and accommodating though . The lobby is great and relaxing overlooking the beach . The food is great , little expensive but worth it .

Needs a serious make over!
This place has heaps of potential however for the price we paid its definitely not worth it. The 200 steps is also a killer. The view on the roof top is nice however the room next level down has a better view. There is no natural lighting, everything is old and dated and they tease you by having a massive satellite dish on the roof together with a tv cable and bracket on the wall, but no TV. Our fan broke and they were unable to replace it. There is A.C. in the room however as the windows are not glass (only net) the cold escapes. On a positive note though, the staff are friendly and helpful. There are better places around elnido that you can get you more value for your money.

Enjoyed the hilltop room
We staid at the hill top room. Beautiful view well worth climping almost 200 steps (not for bad knees, poor physical condition etc.). The room was a bit rustic, however we enjoyed our stay; we didn't go there for luxury but for the views. He hotel is nicely located by the beach close to restaurants yet in peace and quiet. Be sure to contact the hotel beforehand and ask for a tricycle pick up since the regular size tricycles can't enter the beach. The staff was friendly and willing to assist.

Beautiful views at Makulay
We loved the location of Makulay, perfectly located just outside of town, but close enough to access everything El Nido has to offer. It was quiet and aside from the power outages, that they said the entire island experiences, the Air conditioner was wonderful. The hotel had a wonderful dinner area and we loved the outside movies. The menu there is expensive comparatively but did not have many choices. The room was functional, but had so many bugs, spiders, lizards and ants everywhere! The bathroom/shower was really infested and there was never a time we didn't see them. The bed wasn't that comfortable either, but we understand that we were in an Island in the Philippines. There also was barely any Wifi there but we didn't mind that so much, as we quickly learned that wifi in el nido meant little to no service.

Walkable escape from the main strip
Just a short walk away from the main strip brings you to this hotel. Super peaceful, great views - it was a real nice break to be able to get away from the hustle/bustle/loud night music/motorbikes in town.

Nice view and entertainment
Considering the price the room was basic and needed refurbishing. The shower was old and falling apart, the tap water smells eggy. The staff was slow, unfriendly and UNWELCOMING. I has better service in Casa Cecilia when I enquired about a taxi, they have better customer service. Although they do have amazing view and good night entertainment.
