Way overpriced for the money
Lack of signage made it difficult to find check-in. They give various names to same location making it difficult to figure out. We met numerous others who had same complaint. Water damage to bathroom door was incredible. Door doesn't fit space and over years has sopped up water resulting in hideous bottom of door. Would be simple to fix. No jacuzzi, food establishments close at 8 & 9pm.

Perfect for exploring the park
Excellent, clean stay for exploring the park! All the restaurants and convenience store were a huge bonus. Coffee with a sunrise was the best part

Still the place to stay, but going downhill
I've been staying here for years and it's been fine. The kind of rundown nature of the place gives it charm. But this time the place seemed a little more run down than usual. The only cups in my room were so dirty I couldn't get the coffee flavor out of them when I tried washing them myself. The stains in the hallway carpet look neglected. The new wifi system constantly disconnects you and is hard to log back into. There are lots of little things.... Mind you, this is the only option unless you want to spend more than twice as much, and this place is already a bit overpriced. Stay here. But don't get your hopes up. Also, this was my first time driving an EV into the park. The EV chargers here are nearly impossible to activate without help and are slow, level 2 chargers, so you can't really rely on them to get around this seriously large park.

2/10 Poor

Worst hotel experience ever
AWFUL rooms. They’re dark, dingy, and dirty. The beds didn’t even have fitted sheets on them, but a regular sheet tucked into the mattresses instead. There was hair in the shower, and urine stains on the toilet. I will never stay at this property again. I felt bad for the workers: most were sweet, but clearly they’re overworked and undercompensated. This property’s rates are WAY too high to justify the conditions of the rooms and the moods of the staff.

Service was meh, location is great.
For the price you pay at this hotel, the service is really lacking. I requested that we have extra pillows delivered to the room, and they were never brought up. Our shower did not have a shower curtain, so the floor got soaking wet and was a slip hazard after the showers. There were cleaning supplies left in the room, so it’s obvious that housekeeping was there….not sure if the no shower curtain is part of the “eco friendly” thing or what. But it was not pleasant. The location was convenient but if the property is going to be lacking in service, the price should reflect that.

Perfect base for exploring Death Valley
We absolutely loved staying at the Ranch. The property is beautifully maintained and offers multiple restaurants (good food!) a general store and more. It is the ideal spot to stay while exploring Death Valley. Our room was in an older part of the property, which has become shabby over time. For example, there was a big rip in our window treatment and the room needed a good vacuum. Everything was just a bit tired and worn. The staff are wonderfully helpful and there is even a stable adjacent to the property - highly recommend a ride out through the Valley. Be prepared for limited WiFi even on the property! We saw it as a great chance to unplug.

Location in the National Park
Limited options to stay within the National Park, which due to the scale of the park is definitely the right place to stay to get the most of your day. The rooms were standard hotel style rooms, but had no fridge or any extras other than a coffee machine and two cups (there were 4 people in the room). The beds were comfortable and the outside area was lovely. The pool was great. As there are no facilities in the room you have to eat at the on-site restaurants which were not really set up for families - the meals sounded great in the main restaurant but were very expensive. The second bar / restaurant stopped serving food early so we ended up with average burgers at the ice-cream parlor both nights. There is a small shop at the ranch, which again is expensive, we did have some basic food like cup noodles / muesli bars etc with us that helped keep expense down. Overall, a great place to stay due to being in the park.

Super charming grounds, rooms could use some fixes
The ranch is a very charming and unique hotel, a green oasis in the middle of the desert! The grounds contain everything you need, from a restaurant to a general store (with groceries) and museum. The rooms, however, were running a bit outdated - and both the bathroom heater and the toilet were broken in ours.

Oasis in the middle of Death Valley
We loved our hotel stay at the Ranch. It’s like a small little town in Death Valley with places to eat at and stores to shop at. They have a nice heated pool that is open year round until 11pm. There’s tennis courts, basketball courts and even a playground which my 4 year old loves! Our room was nice and cozy with a small little patio area that led to the playground. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and dinner. The beds are not as comfortable as we expected but room was nice and clean. They did not refill the body wash and conditioner so make sure before getting in the shower that those things are filed up. The guy who checked us in is extremely professional and nice. Overall we will definitely stay here again next time we go to Death Valley.
