The hotel was okay ,hole in sidewalk at first step going out, I stepped in it and twisted my ankle, steps in hotel were real steep especially for 76 year old man, breakfast was great. workers were great, overall not worth 500 dollars a night. On my trip to Maine, I stayed in nicer places for alot less.

Look for an alternative
AC in the Florence Room needs to be replaced. It is beyond loud and noisy. Noise from Breakfast Room and Lobby traffic is a major concern.

Poor communication
We were not notified the Inn was closed until we tried to check in. The had left an email, but we had already driven 2 hrs.

We are repeat visitors to this inn. We can certainly tell that there are new owners. There seems to be an uncertainty at times with the staff. Whether it was a missed food item for breakfast or just not getting the room we booked. The communication between Expedia and the Inn may be off? The other thing I have to take issue with is the hot shower, or rather warm shower. We couldn't quite get the hot water we needed while the handle was fully open. This might suggest they are restricting the temperature. I think they are still getting a handle on managing an Inn. Best wishes!

A Lovely Gem in the Heart of Camden
Right in the heart of Camden, The Hartstone Inn is a gem. The staff is attentive and even warned us a holiday parade potentially blocking our arrival thus enabling us to adjust our travel time to Camden. Our room was pretty and clean, and the church bells at night were magical. We never had to use our car to visit the fine dining options, shops, galleries, and pier. The breakfast, which was included, was delightful. Not your typical free breakfast of prepackaged goods, but executed by a wonderful chef with a variety of delicious options to choose from. There is also a small bar and fine dining on premises with a tasting menu that looked yummy. We were visiting with friends, so we did not experience The Hartstone’s dinner option. Also, the trailhead to the hike up Mt. Battie with its gorgeous views of the bay and the Atlantic Ocean is just a minutes drive away. We highly recommend this little getaway!

Food not as good as years past , breakfast meat was cold , right from “fridge cold” . I don’t think fine dining waitresses should be wearing there basketball sneakers to work in . Very pleasant though. TV’s need an upgrade in there service provider or different TV’s.

Great location for this historic B&B. Beautifully themed rooms. Centrally located with easy walking into town and down to the harbor. Great area, small, but has everything you need in walking distance.

I left a shirt in the room, called them 3 times to see if it had been found. Was promised 3 times they would call me to advise, never heard from anyone. Not very considerate.

8/10 Very Good

Clean and striving but quirky and idiosyncratic. Staff is kind and they try hard but they are handicapped by the two historic former houses which both have been contorted architecturally to put in stairs (at least FIVE independent stairways in our little building, three side by side) and to wedge in some fancy baths. Eclectic super low key operating model with no front desk, not much cash or IDs or any of that. Some other guests are repeat here and at sister properties; it took us a few days to figure out the drill. Clean, well appointed, friendly, but trying real hard to make the business model and physical plant work for them. Confusing if you are in a hurry or don't like puzzles. Delightful if you can take your time and soak up the vibe.

When we arrived to checkin, they told us our room reservation was cancelled because they overbooked. They NEVER called us ahead of time about this issue. Unable to contact them for compensation. So much for their followup email "we hope that while you were here you were able to relax"

We had a great stay at the Hartstone. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the entire property felt safe and was quiet. There was plenty to do within walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying there.

Property lacked amenities normally available at a b&b. Mediocre breakfast. No snacks or drinks readily available. It’s the little surprises that make the stay. There were none here.

You should stay here!
I just discovered this hotel. I love it and will be back for sure. I travel alone to have quiet & this place had great staff, amazing room & breakfast was phenomenal. It was private. Jacuzzi tub & fire place. Restaurant was closed when I stayed, but looking forward to trying it next time. New favorite escape hotel right in the heart of walkable Camden.
