As the first stay in our 3-week holiday in South Africa, Dunstone House was perfect. Our room (in a beautifully-converted stables) was very spacious, quiet and comfortable. An attractive, clean pool with great mountain views had sufficient loungers for all rooms.
The hotel had a delightful small restaurant whose 'specials' were always a delight - important as it's 3-miles into Wellington!
As well as tea and homemade cake being provided each afternoon in the guest 'lounge' (a word which understates this dramatic modern space facing the mountains), Dunstone also provides a 'wine hour' every evening before dinner, during which guests can 'taste' each of the lovely wines produced in the estate's own winery; needless to say, there was often little left! There's also a large fridge freezer stocked with drinks (and ice creams) which is subject to an honesty book. Perfect.
The owner (and all the staff we met) were lovely.
Altogether, a great start to a lovely trip.
