This hotel represents outstanding value for money, especially during the winter months.
My room had spectacular sea views. The rooms are very spacious. There is a separate bath and shower. No individual toiletries are provided. Just hand pump soap, which I think was the same for the shower. So bring your own shampoo. 5 minute walk to the beach and fast food restaurants, McDonalds and Nandos. 45 minute walk to downtown CBD of Port Elizabeth. I did the walk twice - very safe and great views along the way of the beaches and Port. Very friendly management. The included breakfast is cooked to order - selection from menu not buffet. However, when its busy they may have a buffet. I had dinner in the restaurant on my first night at the hotel - very reasonably priced and great service. Only negatives are as follows: No air-conditioning not an issue during my stay in winter, but maybe a concern in summer , but there is a wall mounted fan. Internet - a major negative. - Complimentary wifi is not included in the rates. You have to pay for the internet. I paid for 5 day connection through Always on South Africa - The Chapman Hotel was a so called Hotspot - it was about $30 US dollars, although cheaper plans for a few hours are available. Even though you are paying for the service, the connection is very poor to the say the least. I have no problem paying for the internet, but when you pay and get a substandard connection this is an issue.
