I really loved this place. I found it and booked last minute, then stayed an extra night. If I'd known before, I would have booked it for several nights and used it as my base of operations. The owners are a lovely family with one small daughter and another child on the way. The property is a several-hundred-year-old hotel outside the city walls about half-way down the hill. Luca, the owner, told me it was built as a hotel for people who might have showed up too late in the day to get inside the city walls back in the day. He was very pleasant. Worked long hours and did a lot of the cooking himself. Made the bread they served at the included breakfast buffet. I think the missus made the desserts that were also served. Great food. Lovely property with a pool that I didn't have time to try. The free parking caught my eye when I booked. Having a car, getting up to the hill to the city was not a problem. It could be walked, but it's steep. I imagine there are some bus options, but I didn't need to know so I didn't find out. Luca was very helpful with ideas on other places in the region to visit. All in all, my favorite among the hotels in Italy I tried. I'd definitely stay there again.
