Renovate this Secrets, please!
First and foremost, I want to make clear that the frontline employees did their very best to make our stay enjoyable. They work hard and deserve to be treated respectfully, by tourists AND the management.
The condition of the resort was not great. There are signs of deferred maintenance all over (peeling paint, non functioning pool showers, peeling stain, cracked pavement, etc.). We were in the St James Preferred Club and when we got there, there was a pervasive smell of mold or rot in the lobby and elevators which was there the entire trip. The first room we were assigned smelled of mold or sewage and we asked for a change, which was accommodated. This deferred maintenance speaks to ownership that does not wish to invest.
Skip El Patio and go to Blue Mountain, Bordeaux or Portofino for dinner instead. The breakfast and lunch buffets had plenty of options. Hop over to Breathless for dinner at Altitude.
