The location on the Akumal beach is fantastic and worth going for. The room - a penthouse - was lovely with amazing views and a private outdoor jacuzzi to watch the the local birds from. This is a big hotel with many guests meaning that some of the charm of the location fades when you move around the hotel facilities. Lots of food options, some very nice, some more moderate. The fine dining options vary in quality, mainly because the authenticity lack despite the effort and mouthwatering menus. We enjoyed the Mexican and the European restaurant the most. The grand buffet also had fine moments with freshly grilled gambas and lovely fruits for breakfast. The sushi bar by the pool was a disappointment. No taste in sushi rolls containing too much rice and too little fish. And what does cream cheese do in a sushiroll? I think management should ask themselves why they have a no reservation policy for sunbeds that is posted everywhere when they clearly don’t remove towels that some guests put out before sunrise? That leaves the hotel’s guests with the worst manners to set the rules and downgrades the whole experience, when you wander amongst the empty beds looking to find one that is not reserved.

I will be recommending Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness resort to anyone and everyone traveling to the Riviera Maya from now on. From the beautifully maintained rooms and grounds, cleanliness and attention to guests' comfort, and incredible staff, to the amazing snorkeling right from the beach (that looks like it's out of a postcard!), every moment of this trip was incredibly relaxing and beautiful. Tons of food options, live music each night, a dive shop on site, and the overall laid back vibes made the experience unforgettable. Truly can't wait to go back.

Been here twice w family. Great place. Check if pool is still under construction! We were upset about that c bc Expedia didn’t communicate to us. They had a few small pools but the big one wasn’t open. The staff was nice and made it up to us.

I’ll say what was good only. Staff are very nice and pleasant to deal with. Beach is awesome, Raymond is the house evening entertainment, is great and imho underappreciated there. On weds the band Goliath plays and they rock! Leaving my review at that and that should speak volumes.

El trato para la gente que habla español porque esta en su tierra... es malo, mi experiencia con la persona de "hostess" del Restaurant Brasileño fue muy mala, Decidimos por ese tipo de comida y al llegar el lugar estaba lleno pero decidimos quedarnos y le preguntamos a Rocío si habia lista de espera y asi fue nos anotamos y preguntamos cuantas personas habia antes y dijo que dos mesas y el tiempo de espera era 40 minutos. Empesaron a llegar mas huespedes obviamente de otras nacionalidades y me acerco para saber si ya estaba mi mesa y me dice que debo de esperar mas tiempo porque hay 5 mesas antes de mi. Obviamente le dije que eso no era cierto, que necesitaba mi mesa que si tenia que hablar ingles y decier que soy ciudadana americana para tener otro trato. En cuanto le dije eso le pido una disculpa se acaba de desocupar una mesa y yo misma la voy a limpiar para que pase. Dos dias pedimos room services en el primero hablo mi sobrino en español y se tardaron mas de una hora y cuando mi sobrino lo pido en ingles las cosas cambiaron la comida llego en el tiempo indicado. NO puede ser posible ese trato con la gente que habla español. Pero debo decir que el trato del Sr. Will de Araceli y de Joel fueron muy excelente, la calidad de la gente es otra. Rocio y el chico Gamaliel creo que dan mucho que desear al atender a gente de su pais. Unos amigos italianos me recomedaron el hotel. A ellos los trataron de maravilla por ser extranjeros y yo tengo que sacar mi Green card para ello.

Our first trip to ABBWR was about 22 years ago. Since then, my husband and I have been back 13 times. This year, we invited 5 of our close friends and what a time we had! One couple described the trip as "encouraging and inspiring." The other couple is already searching for dates to bring back their own family. As always, the beauty, the new friends we met from "around the world" and the attentive staff are the memories saved and shared. In addition to the daily snorkeling, we all enjoyed the 11:00 am water aerobics, a great time to laugh with and laugh at each other. We were really impressed with talented and friendly Abel, the one-man band. Dining staff worked hard to make sure that our group of 7 left each meal happy and well fed.

The location in Akumal Bay was wonderful. The beach was beautiful and we saw turtles, rays, coral, and fish galore while snorkeling. The area was safe and convenient for walking. The property was beautiful and well laid out. We ate at several different restaurants with different cuisines. One item to kepe in mind, most of the restaurants are not air conditioned so we tried to sit by the windows or on patios as well as dress lightly. We relaxed on lounge chairs under a nice umbrella on the beach each day. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and made the stay delightful. The overall location was convenient for getting to/from TQO airport and to/from local attractions.
