I was warned before and should have listened. I was told "a great hotel, but good luck checking in". Well, my friends checked in around the corner at Hotel C and were sorted in under a minute. I, however, faced a queue of 50 MINUTES, yes, FIFTY, to check in at Royal Viking. A line of 25-30 agitated people, just two check in desks open and the electronic check in computers not working either. I was furious! My friends were already out exploring the city and there was me stood like a pleb for the best part of an hour.
When eventually I was given my room key, only one of the lifts was working, so it took another 10+ minutes to get to my room.
So, all in all: a lovely hotel when it works. The check in issue is obviously well-known as I was warned about it in advance by a friend who was there last year, but the hotel doesn't seem to care enough to bother to address it.
This could be such a nice place if it were run better. I'll try Hotel C next time as my friends loved it and always stay there.
