This hotel is desperately in need of updating. The first room we were offered had ripped net curtains, casement windows that would not close properly with no secondary glazing and was located in a separate block across the car park from the main hotel. The outside door to this block was open when we arrived and windows into the corridor were wide open - security was clearly not a priority. I wasn't comfortable staying in this room and the receptionist gave us unlabelled keys to another room in the main hotel. On opening the door to this room, I was extremely surprised to find that it was already occupied by another guest. We were offered another room, back on the second floor of the other block and had to accept this room as there were literally no other hotel rooms available in Stratford that night (and believe me, I looked). The sheets and duvet were clean, and that is the only positive thing I can say about it. Furniture covers were stained, walls were dirty, there were gaps between the wall and window frames, the spaces between the window and secondary glazing were filthy with dead insects, the soap and shower gel dispensers were empty. Bedside lamps did not work, bedside drawer would not stay closed. Parking was very limited on site. We left before breakfast.
The receptionist we dealt with was not rude, but nor was she helpful or particularly polite.
Overall very far from what we expected from a branded 4 star hotel.
