Delightful historic property. Nearly non existent service. No restaurant or amenities. Nice to have a full kitchen. Valet is mandatory, due to the homeless population across the street. The hotel is quite old and my room was smelly. I left windows open and used my diffuser which helped. But the room is very big and I loved that. I loved the ability to cook if I wanted. The staff were great and very helpful. The gym is terrible-no weights. Just a treadmill, elliptical. That’s why I’m hiving it 4 stars. You are across the street from balboa park which is lovely. About a 10 min uber to the Gaslamp district and a 20 min uber to the beach. Walking distance to a few restaurants. Although my experience was good there I probably wouldn’t stay there again.
