Really not a four star hotel.
I can't understand how this hotel has been rated four stars. The rooms are tired and there were clearly maintenance issues that have not been addressed. Our bathroom has rusted fixtures, lights not working, no seal on the shower screen, so the place flooded after a quick shower. The wall outside our room had clearly had issues with damp and had not been repaired.
The bed was fine, apart from the worlds smallest pillows (no spares), and the room was clean, but the furniture was tired and damaged in places.
The public areas are ok, but the bar is at the back of the property with a beautiful view of the car park. The restaurant seemed to be only used for breakfast and was nice enough but breakfast itself was not good - the contintental buffet was fine, but the quality of the cooked food was poor. Scrambled eggs were awful, haggis and black pudding were both poor quality and the sausages were completely tasteless. And instant coffee, which frankly should be a crime to serve in a restaurant!
The staff were all lovely but the place feels like they are doing what they can with limited bidget and no recent investment.
