10/10 Exceptional

This is a wonderful hotel with gorgeous grounds. The entrance is an enormous thatched open lobby with friendly staff that speak English. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool. It was comfortable and the air conditioning was great. The shower had great water pressure and the restroom was spacious. We ate at the restaurant the first evening and loved the food. The included breakfast was delicious. It's served in the open air and there are lots of flying critters that want a taste. They had delicious Papaya jelly that really attracted flys, so we had to place a napkin over it. You can walk to the downtown square easily where you will find several little shops and food vendors. Parking at the hotel is great. It's a five minute drive to the Chichen Itza ruins, or you could walk there. The ruins are extensive, so you would get your steps in for sure. We look forward to returning here with our kids in the future.

The beds are HARD and the sheets are dirty and hard. When showering you feel u are sinking because the tub is so old. Asked the guy in the front desk for a cup of ice and he told me to go buy it across the street. The wifi is not good, nor the tv did the worked. Asked again the front desk about not having wifi or cable in the room and rudly he said it was due to the rain and that there was no wifi access in the rooms only in the lobby area. The only good thing about this stay was their breakfast. Otherwise, do not stay at this hotel, stay in Vallalodid. It's about 40 min drive from Chinen-Itza however, they have better hotels and staff is friendlier.

Beautiful place. Love it! All of their staff is friendly and helpful. Their breakfast was great! Not to mention dinner, it was also great. Had a very relaxed evening in the pool after visiting Chichén Itzá ruins.

Very beautiful and unique place to stay. Exotic and warming. We stayed here during the hurricane coming by the town. Staff kept us comfortable. Will be staying here in future to explore the town more.

The hotel is close to chichen itza. We walked twice in one day in the morning and at night time to see the lights show. The breakfast was really good which was included.

2/10 Poor

Restaurant staff were very rude (they were very dissatisfied with the tip - they made rude comments in Spanish. I happen to be from Mexico but look Asian so I heard all the remarks). Hotel staff were not kind and clueless - no water at all in our shower, trickle at sink and all the water ended up on the floor. None of the cabinet drawers would open or close. The hotel is in a good location but need a major renovation. Restaurant food was 2 star at best. I would have asked for out $ back if it wasn’t for the staff that looked so depressed….

The room was fine but dimly lit with some lights not working. The bath had a large crack in the base and required the provided mat to be placed over it. The bar staff were slow to respond to our presence and then when we had finished our drinks. The breakfast however was a different story, the staff were attentive and the food was good.

We have been to Hotel Chitchen Itza before. It is a great hotel. All the amenities you need in the heart of the Yucatan. It has never disappointed our Yucatan experience.

4/10 Fair

Disappointed with the Chichen Itza Stay
this is a high volume hotel that provides service to a large number of tourists, and as a result we felt the employees to be impersonal and too fast paced to provide good customer service. Maybe it was under staffed on the day we were there, if so not the employees fault, but managements, or maybe a lot of people had to call in sick that day. The reason we stayed at the hotel was so we could arrive at Chichen Itza at opening. We arrived at breakfast at 7 but they would not seat us till 7:15, delayed our arrival at Chichen…and waitress could manage a smile or offer a “sorry for opening late”.. Pizza dinner was not throughly baked and not what we ordered, ate it anyway. I usually don’t point out little gripes in reviews because no place is perfect but feel this hotel deserves a bad review.

You can listen to the sound of the forest while seating in a rocking chair in a long and beautiful corridor facing a magnificent pool. You going to love the sound of many birds and admired the many green trees around the property.
