I booked two rooms at Hotel Tulusi Inn through Expedia and selected the "pay at hotel" option. Soon after, the hotel contacted me demanding full prepayment directly to their bank account. I refused, as I was not willing to prepay two months in advance.
On the scheduled date, I arrived at the hotel with two senior citizens. Despite my confirmed booking, the staff denied us rooms, stating, "Rooms are available, but you must pay a surge fee because you didn't prepay." I refused to pay the additional ₹500 per room, as I already held a confirmed reservation at a set price.
They boldly claimed they would not cancel the booking on their end; instead, they threatened to mark us as a "no-show" on Expedia and delete the CCTV footage. They even taunted me, saying that complaining would yield no results.
Exasperated and concerned for my 70+ year-old family members, we left as I didn't want to waste my precious time on those frauds. Fortunately, we found much better rooms at a lower tariff nearby by spot booking. Ironically, those bas**ds ended up with empty rooms that night.
