Shaka Caye is a MUST for people who enjoy the tranquility of a tropical island, but have the option for ADVENTURE. Not only is there much to do on the island (kayaking, sand volleyball, paddle boarding, local sea life, a near-by caye you can explore all on your own-) you can charter a boat to enjoy Caye Caulker, snorkeling and cave tubing.
My partner and I aimed to do charter a boat for an inland-adventure, but ultimately were so enchanted by what the island had to offer we just stayed put :) Shaka Caye did help coordinate a fly-fishing expedition, with success! Shout-out to Jamal-
The staff at Shaka Caye was stellar from the moment we got on the tender to the island. They were friendly, shared about themselves, were fun to talk to socialize with and beyond accommodating. From Obi showing off his carefully-crafted-creative cocktails with Michael by his side, to Daisy making sure things ran smoothly, Percy giving us the low-down about meals with his charismatic spin- we were full of joy the entire time. Glenda in the office even let me quickly borrow her scanner-
Please also understand not once were we hungry, and everything we were served was top-notch and came with options.
The rooms were beautiful, modern (tasteful) temperature controlled and well-kept.
