I have already given feedback to the Operations Manager about this property. I would only reiterate that where the property is situated is not good for a Solo, Elderly, Disabled traveler. The property needs to be refurbished in and out.

Personnel très accueillant et agréable, restaurant très bon, petit déjeuner tout les matins et nous avons fait un dîner, très copieux. Hotel dans l’ensemble très agréable et bien placé, le seul hic était la chambre qui n’avait pas de fenêtre, du coup assez glauque! Avec une fuite dans le toit de la terrasse qui apparemment était normal avec les fortes pluies! Et un client du dessus a mal tiré la chasse d’eau une nuit donc l’eau s’écoulait toute la nuit et on entendait le bruit donc pas très insonorisé ; du coup gros bémol sur la chambre mais à part ça tout était top.

Comfortable hotel in the wild!

Comfortable hotel by the beach (quite wavey and with black sand, difficult to swim at when we were there). We booked one of the alartments with two rooms, quite big, no AC just fan, but enough for us.good breakfast!

Not Adult Only

The hotel was definitely not what I expected. The room was very small with a king bed and a twin close by. This made it very difficult to navigate the room. I booked for 3 people. There is no closet space in the room which means our bags also had to be on the floor next to the beds. Due to the rain, the room was very moist and that made our towels smell like mildew. I asked to switch the towels and the house keeper only switched out one. Lastly, the staff in the breakfast area was really friendly and the food was pretty good. Oh and I forgot to mention, this hotel is not adult only. There were children on the resort, eating in the breakfast area, etc. They were well behaved, but one of the reasons why I chose this hotel was because it was advertised as Adult only.

Schönes Strandhotel in der Nähe von Puerto Viejo. Wir hatten die zwei "Sloth Caribbean Cabina" reserviert, welche sehr schön waren mit Aussicht auf die Anlage und Meer. Das Frühstück wurde leider während unseres Aufenthalts auf drei Auswahlmöglichkeiten reduziert, was ein wenig einseitig war. Personal war sehr freundlich.

The cost does not live up to the experience.

Stayed for 8 days. Food is mild in taste; breakfast not varied. Service inconsistent. Single armed security guard placed at front entrance in the evening. There is no security guard placed at back entrance which is exposed to road, houses and beach. The beach is, like at of Costa Rica, not owned by the hotel. Therefore, it is frequently filled with expatriates and children and not hotel guests. Beware that the hotel does little to nothing to police that and you will find yourself, despite being a paying guest, without a lounge chair. The rooms are noisy and you can hear the guests in the adjacent rooms talking and snoring.The shower is great and the hotel is close to the town. Overall, I would not stay there again. The cost does not match the experience.

Overall hotel is comfortable, steps from the beach, convenient to shopping & dining. Front desk check in experience not good at all. Waited over an hour for room to be ready. Told previous guest had a late check-out and would let us know when ready. Waited in restaurant within view of desk repeatedly checking . More than an hour later checked again. There had been a change of staff and previous person did not inform the next staff person we were waiting, who then rushed through room and facilities instructions. Just happened to find out late into the second day we should have been offered a welcome drink and beach towels. Booked a basic room, which was smaller than expected, but adequate. (think beach bungalow) No TV as advertised. Ceiling fan, and portable floor fan, no air conditioning, but no AC was fine for us. Mattress uncomfortably soft for our taste, saggy in spots and one of the pillows had an unpleasant smell. The bathroom tile grouting could use cleaning. Other wise the housekeeping staff did a good job every day. Except for the check-in experience the staff was great, especially Maria Jose, Milena, Ketsi ,and Oscar. Would recommend as a budget conscious, quiet, easy going beach front, adult only hotel with good food, drinks and wonderful staff. Pura Vida.😊

Great hotel but not great for groups

I will start by saying that the hotel is beautiful. The facilities look great, the service was top-notch and the location was perfect. It wasn’t too far from the town, but far away enough to feel like you weren’t in the town, it was just a short bike ride or drive over. The only unfortunate part of the stay is that it is a small hotel and not great for groups or friends. Quiet hours start pretty early and you will get a knock on your door for talking after 10 PM due to the older crowd that is there. There was no music being played or parties being had, just conversation in our rooms and we were asked to whisper, which is not a great experience on vacation. The other guests were up and active well before 6 AM waking us up every day we were there, but the same rules don’t apply to the guests being “loud” in the early morning as they do at night.

We only got to stay at Hotel Banana Azul just one night but had a very nice time. We came in late and was greeted by Genesis at the reception. She made us feel right at home and showed us to our bungalow on the other side of the property. We opted to have breakfast in the shared dining area and were helped by Maria. Food was wonderful and it was very pleasant chatting with Maria who gave us some helpful travel recommendations for the Viejo and Cahuita Beach areas. We couldn't stay a second night on account of all the rooms were already booked. Too bad! But, we will definitely come back to Hotel Banana Azul next time we're in the area.

The room was open air with lots of bugs! The net over the bed was a joke, it would have made it impossible to sleep and would have covered the head of maybe one person ! The bathroom is open air along the top 18 inches to the main staircase 😳! The holler suite was very rustic with no place to put our suitcases, we had to keep them on the patio closed up! Our view and patio was very nice. The room very very very small with no way to keep mosquitoes out! Location was good staff was nice

The staff here is absolutely incredible! Everyone was so helpful and kind. Definitely want to give a shout out to Jessica and Timateo who were amazing! The breakfast was great. Lunches and dinners were delicious. They have a beautiful area to dine in, multiple bars, cool fire pit, lots of little nooks and crannies to chill in, and they are right on the beach, you can order right from the beach and receive your food and drinks without leaving Paradise, which is absolutely phenomenal. Definitely worth the stay, will be back next time I'm in Costa Rica.
