Truly beautiful location on the banks of the Dordogne in a small vineyard. We stayed here by chance as part of a longer road trip. We wouldn’t consider ourselves wine lovers but the free wine tasting session was really informative and completely changed our outlook on wine. The hotel accommodation was of excellent standard and the hosts were very friendly. They also make excellent and very reasonably priced wines.

Great family-run chateau in an incredible location. The food and wine was excellent, all served personally by the owners and a small team. You can feel their passion for wine-making. The hosts where quick to accomodate changes that made our stay ideal.

A little gem in Bordeaux
We booked at short notice, en route to the South, so did not know what to expect. Fabiene and Frederic have a small biodynamic vineyard with chambres d’otes and great food, wine tasting and genuine hospitality. The room is designed with taste, had a large bathroom and a lounge area. This is a gem of a place.

2/10 Poor

Strange
Beautiful place in country side of France. However me and my wife stayed one night and we had a very unpleasant experience in this place. First the host guy didnt welcome us at all and didn’t introduce himself. And he couldnt find our booking and he said to us “Are you sure you booked this place”. After that he find the booking name and said that he couldn’t understand my name. This is very unusual to hear it when you check in a hotel. When we checked out the host guy told us we only paid small mount of deposit when we book the hotel in online via hotels.com and we need to pay the rest of payment . But I remembered we paid all payment when we book the hotel. So we had to prove it we paid all. It was very unusual and terrible experience for us. It would say It was a beautiful place but the service was really poor.

Fantastic stay. Love the whole feel of the chateau though it took us a while to find this place. Very serene surrounding and the owners were friendly. Will choose to stay here again when i visit Bordeaux.

Excellent, comfortable stay in quaint location.
Excellent stay in a more remote area outside Bordeaux. The room was very comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very well updated. The property itself is very well kept and a very interesting place to wander. They have a very friendly dog who may follow u on an evening walk! The staff at the bed and breakfast were superb. Rafael gave wine tasting in the evening that was very much appreciated. It is a family business and clearly each member has passion for it and it clearly shows.

The facility represents a true picture of the French countryside. Frederic and Fabainne were excellent hosts and extremely accommodating to all of our requests. The wine tasting experience was very educational and well worth the time.

The property is far from town at the end of a long, winding road. A GOOD THING. it’s right on the Dordogne river and is very quiet. It’s on a wine estate, and not only does the proprietor serve you great wine, he makes the wine and grows the grapes. He is an excellent source of info about the region and about winemaking. An excellent breakfast, and sometimes dinner is available, too. Otherwise, you can drive to town or bring back some food for dinner. Lovely interior in this old church, and great views of the river. Friendly pets. English spoken fluently. A charming, relaxing place.

Delightful stay at a Bordeaux winery
This is a beautiful remodeled B&B, located in a very old, former Chapel, with all the charm you can imagine! Our room was on the upper level, with 2 big windows looking out over the river, and one looking down at our courtyard. It was incredibly spacious, and the bathroom was nicely updated and large, as well. Frederic gave us an educational wine-tasting, and told us about wine-making of his own, and in the region. Fabienne's breakfasts were delicious and a great way to start the day. They recommended dinner at Cafe Carles, just down the road, and it was very, very good, and situated right on the river. From LVC, it was easy to get to Bordeaux, Saint Emilion, or other places near-by. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The Hotel is great, very clean and spacious. The hotel owners are really nice. Our biggest issue is that it was really far from everything. This hotel is perfect if your are to relax and enjoyed the view, but if you are looking to see more stuff better have a car as is to far.

Highlight of France!
We had a fantastic stay at La Vieille Chapelle with Frederic being the most genuine and hospitable host we experienced on our trip. The converted chapel from 1200 AD was brilliant and we stayed in the A&A room which had plenty of space and views of the river. Make sure you catch the tidal waves in the afternoon/morning and definately sample the wines as they are made biodynamically on site and are so good they don't even give you a hangover! I'd also suggest the simple but hearty breakfast and definately have the home cooked dinner under the trees with other guests as it was one of the best meals we experienced. Obviously we highly recommended staying at Chateau de la Vieille Chapelle!!!

Beautiful hotel, wonderful wine, excellent dinner
We stayed one night. We were treated to an unexpected, free wine tasting session in the evening time. The hotel owner treated us to five of his own wines. They were excellent! We had dinner shortly afterwards, outdoors beside the river with 8 other guests. The food was so tasty and accompanied by our favourite wine from the tasting session. Our best meal of our visit to the Dordogne region. Highly recommend this hotel. The room was beautiful, the staff were very friendly. The location beside the river is stunning.
