I never leave reviews but this was truly unforgettable. We booked the private onsen room on the first floor. Simply incredible, the ultimate ryokan experience. The room, onsen, and views were beautiful. On top of that, the staff were outstanding. The dinner and breakfast in the private dining room were delicious. We were served a spread of local food that was unlike anything we have ever had. Truly the highlight of our first trip to Japan. We hope to return one day.

We stayed here for a night in a room with a private bathroom and shower. We didn't need it at all because the public bath facilities were so wonderful. We were here on a quiet weekday, so we often had the entire public baths to ourselves. The onsen was incredible - the water extremely clean. This place was amazing - a real treat. Recently renovated, we had a room that had it's own private bath which was perfect. My partner went down to the other baths and said they were great too. The dinner and breakfast were 5 stars and the staff were just as amazing too. The view from the room over looked a temple just beyond a stream/river and the town, with views of the mountains surrounding it. Very quiet area with an old town area nearby similar to what you find in Takayama but smaller and not as busy. We drove and our car was parked by their valet and bought back when we left. Apparently there is a shuttle service to the train too.
