This hotel is a gem!
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Carolina Bacalar. We could not have wished for a more beautiful hotel in a beautiful place like Bacalar. Both the lake and the hotel , wich is directly on the lake shore, are worth the trip south. The pictures of Hotel Carolina Bacalar exeed the expectations. The bearkfast options, food drinks and service are great too. The pool might come across a bit small but the lake fully compensates for this. We only spend 2 nights in Bacalar, I wish we would have stayed a day or two longer in Bacalar and Hotel Carolina. The only point of attation we have is the showerhead.

It has a really nice lake front hotel, small that the amenities felt private. The only thing was the shower heads needed to be updated water was coming out in different directions but overall loved the place and would definitely would go back.

This is the second time that I have stayed in the Carolina hotel. I brought my husband and sister-in-law to see it because I knew my description could not do justice to it as much as actually experiencing being at the Carolina hotel It's absolutely beautiful.

Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel. I tried many times to call and no one ever answers. I had issues with my reservations and was not able to contact anyone. They charged me full stay even though I never stayed. When I spoke to Experian they were no help either. They opened a case and also tried to contact the Hotel and did not get a reply. Since they could not get a reply within 72 hours they closed the case and I was out more than $500.00 Terrible customer service and thieves.

Excelente place to stay in Bacalar. Clean and the staff very attentive. It was during low season. So not a lot of guesses in the hotel. The pool was under renovation but we reían upgrade to American breakfast instead of continental. Food at the hotel was delicious

Even though on the water, it is a nice part and it is the very soft muddy smelly soil. Also not value for money at all. Breakfast is stingy. You get either a coffee or a juice (and terrible at that). We stayed in a more expensive hotel 2 nights prior (£50 more a night but beautiful and impeccable service) and by the time you spend extra on breakfast it is the same price! I only didn’t cancel Carolina due to the waterfront! What a mistake! Not worth staying there. Spend your money on a better hotel. You will be going to ‘beach clubs’, restaurants on the water front anyway so….. the only saving grace was the lovely young lady who checked us in and that the rooms were clean.

Don’t waste beautiful Bacalar in here
The hotel has charming rooms with an island vibe and is located next to the Bacalar Lagoon. However, the positives end there. The staff don’t speak English, which is common in Bacalar, but they also don't use body language to communicate. There are plenty of staff, but the management is poor—you can wait over 45 minutes to pay your bill, as they don’t charge to your room. You must pay on the spot, causing long waits. Our room included two free drinks, but we were charged every time we ordered. Even when reminded of the free drinks, they still charged us and took an additional 20 minutes to correct the bill. The hotel claims to have a restaurant, but it’s just a bar by the bay and a separate food service above reception. We had two adults and two kids, but only received two towels daily, requiring us to wait 20 minutes for more after water activities. Toilet paper wasn’t restocked; we had to ask for it. Water, coffee, and disposable cups weren’t provided unless requested every day. Service was extremely slow. Management was nonexistent, and staff didn’t greet guests. On a rainy day, the area flooded, trapping us in our room. We had to pay before eating and had to repeatedly remind them about our payment method. Shampoo bottles were never replaced unless completely empty. The staff were unwelcoming,especially at reception, they never smiled or greeted the guests. Despite tipping cleaning lady daily, essential items were always missed.Don’t waste beautiful Bacalar in there.
