The simple TV in our room was on too small a table and unsecured from tipping over. The armoire was almost up against the corner of the bed. I bumped it getting by and it fell on its face on the little table. I did not think anything of it and stood it up again and centered its feet as best as possible. When we returned from Mass after checkout, we were presented with a bill for 447.50 Euros ($703.00 Canadian). I googled the cost of TVs locally = 199.99 Euros for a Phillips. The clerk insisted the 457.50 Euros was correct. We got ripped off.

It is a very nice Hotel and I liked it. I was disappointed with the Restaurant and the Bar. The drinks are pricy (12 euros) and they did not have Beer. I only wanted a Beer because of walking around for a couple of hours and was thirsty. I went about 100 yards down the street and Beer and Wine was 5 euros each and my wife and I had found a watering hole. The Hotel did help me with transportation from the Rome Airport to the Hotel. The driver was timely and the trip was very good.

The room I had was 2 story and the bathroom eas downstairs. Transversing that during the night was challenging not to fall. The room was extremely hot and I turned the air down to the lowest setting. It got cool after 4 to 6 hours but then it would shut off. Bring a travel fan. Only 1 American outlet and it was in the bathroom.

Do not book San Giorgio Hotel
I booked this hotel on May 17th and on October 13 I received an email from the hotel sayin they were overbooked they gave me the option to cancel they also said they would secure a room at another hotel. Since the timing was so close to our trip which is in a large cruise there was no good hotels available. Here is a copy of the email I received. In my opinion if you don’t book transportation from the airport from them they say they are overbooked then they accept bookings from those who want transportation from them. The hotel they put us in was horrendous I wouldn’t even rate it a one star. Why did it take them 5 months to realize they were overbooked. Hotel San Giorgio sent you a message: URGENT URGENT!! - HOTEL SAN GIORGIO - COMMUNICATION FOR ARRIVAL 21 OCTOBER 2024 We are writing this message as we are very sorry to inform you that there were an error in our room allocation/reservation system and on 21 October 2024 we are in an overbooking situation. Please kindly note that we do not have any other rooms available, therefore we offer you the following options: · to cancel your reservations free of charge as we are not in the conditions to honour the booking. Or · to accept the reallocations of your room in Hotel Mercure Sunbay Park - address Via Aurelia Sud, Km 68/750, 00053 Civitavecchia RM We are really sorry for what happened and attend your reply in order to find the best solution for your stay, Kind regards

I and several other couples who booked through Expedia had our reservations cancelled based on "booking glitch" the hotel claimed. The hotel put us in another "4 star" hotel which was a zero star hell whole. It was in the boonies with nothing around it. The only saving grace for the Hotel San Gregio us they did pick us up and bring us to our cruise ship. All us couples booked over 6 months ago, and we were only notified the day before check in that we had no reservation. We prepaid $180 euros and the alternate hotel was listed that day for $86. Somebody owes me money.
