Over booked room
I made a reservation on expedia on the day of check in. The reservation was accepted and I traveled 30 minutes to get to the hotel. When I arrived, a taxi dropped me off and I then got a phone call from a man at the hotel. He said they did not have a room for me but had a room 30 minutes in the opposite direction - with excitement, he offered me a larger room at another hotel with a balcony. I explained I could not stay in the alternative hotel because I could not get another taxi to travel another 30 minutes in the opposite direction, I had a class to go the next day in the area, it was closer to the airport as well than the suggested new location. All details aside - I did not want to relocate. That’s my choice.
I let him know I would find another hotel in the area and to refund me / cancel the res. I was left out in the rain, without the ability to get a taxi , and with all of my bags, alone.
Unfortunately this was my last night in Italy and it was beginning like this….fortunately something a Roman pizza could fix.
Either way, I found another hotel an hour or so later through Bonvoy (thank you) and discovered that I was still charged for the room.
I called Expedia and they said the hotel employee had a completely different story. That he had a room and I didn’t complete his checking prompts or respond to his email? What?
I will have to dispute the charge on my credit card and the universe will deal with this hotel employee.
