The room had a firm but comfortable double bed, a modern television with several Spanish/English channels, air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan, a bathroom with spacious shower, and a balcony that overlooked the jungle hill. Monkey calls, frog croaks, and bird songs were a welcome attraction. Don't keep the balcony door open too long as mosquitoes quickly migrate indoors.
I had read that being roadside, this hotel was quite noisy. This didn't seem to be the case. Traffic runs infrequently after 10p.m. and the rooms at Hy Paradise are well insulated. The hotel is ideal for travel to either Quepos or Manuel Antonio. The location sits almost halfway between both sites. It takes about five minutes by taxi or fifteen by local bus.
Best of all, at Hy Paradise Inn, the staff took a personal touch to enhancing my stay. The room was cleaned thoroughly each day and front reception staff went beyond to offer additional assistance. Examples included: suggesting best cheap eats, organizing my tour, and most importantly, helping me to dial free long distance when some of my I.D. had been lost. Having Wendy help me to navigate the nuances of foreign phone calls in a somewhat panicked state, was greatly appreciated. This was done all free of charge!
I would happily stay here in the future and I would easily rate my overall hotel stay at Hy as an A+ experience!
