After an initial tough check-in proces where the present receptionist did no show any empathy (yes, my room wasn't ready, I had to wait for nearly 3 hours, and it was obvious he didn't care), I came back hours later and the check-in went flawless (thank you Evelyn).
The room is a suite but has not the allure of a suite. Living room is a square without windows, and feels more like a prison. The bathroom is basic, and the bedroom was good but not that big. At least it had a window.
Bed itself was good, but overall there was nothing presidential about the suite.
The hotel part itself was modern, well maintained, clean and had a pleasant atmosphere.
The pool was great, and it even had a bar in the afternoons and 2 huge TV screens. What a great hang-out.
Finally, breakfast: that came with a Latin twist, which was very nice for a change. The staff was professional and some were even friendly (very unusual for South Florida as I have experienced): good job Nicholas.
The hotel is in a business area, not too far from the International Mall and the Dolphin Mall. Both malls are not incredibly special and had their heyday in the past.
There is not so much else to do there, so having a car is recommended.
Btw: the valley parking service is very well organized and is excellent.
So overall: a nice hotel if you need to be specifically in that area of town. If you do not have to be there, then check other options too. The stand-outs of this hotel are the pool and the valley parking.
