The hotel was in a great location and the rooms were really nice. The low rating is due to that the toilet did not flush. We told the reception, they said they fixed it, the toilet did not flush, they tried to fix it again. Still not working. In the end they could not offer any other solution than using the toilet in the reception area. This was very inconvenient for us. Having to get dressed and walking down the stairs to be able to use a toilet. We paid for a room with a private bathroom and that service was not provided. We asked for a compensation, but the hotel told us we needed to contact hotels.com where we made the booking. When we did we were offered a free upgrade and VIP treatment for our next trip to the same hotel. This is useless for us for 2 reasons: we have no future trips planned to Barcelona and even if we did, we prefer to go to a hotel that can provide a working toilet.
After getting back to hotels.com a couple of times we were in the end offered a coupon to use when booking our next stay anywhere. The value was 10% of the value of the booking in Barcelona, which is a joke. And also comes with restriction that it can’t be used with other promotions for example. But that was the best thing they could offer. We are really disappointed with both the hotel and hotels.com. We did not get what we paid for.
