Hotel is nice, conveniently located in a bustling area. I always love visiting downtown St. Louis and was excited to stay in a new hotel as this was my first time at the Clayton. Ended up disappointed in the staff and service. Staff put the receipt under my door at 4:00am. I am a light sleeper so woke me up! Why so early. 6:00am seems more reasonable. Major bummer, def did not plan to be up at 4am! Ugh.
Second - When staying downtown I always call to check out parking as I often travel with my pup or kids and like to make sure that the garage is close and reasonably priced. Front desk said that they validate parking and it is only $12, great I thought! The clerk was not clear on their validation process when explaining it over the phone and while I thought it was odd to bring the paid parking ticket to the desk at checkout, I paid when exiting the garage, per the phone rep, and took the time to actually check out so that I could get it validated (I never actually check out unless getting validation). Clerk was rude and told me that I should have brought the ticket to her BEFORE paying. I tried to explain my conversation but she was rude and somewhat aggressive so I left wo validation. Called to speak to the mng later in the day and she never called back. Terrible service won't be back. Too bad because hotel was nice.
