My stay at The Tommi was overall pleasant, but there were a few factors that prevented me from giving it a full 5-star rating.
First, while the gym looked impressive and well-equipped, there were a couple of issues. The beverage machine, which seemed like a nice touch, had no available drinks when I tried to purchase anything—three options were out of stock. Additionally, the phones in the gym didn’t work. I tried two different ones, and neither were operational, which could be a problem if someone needed assistance while working out.
Another point of frustration was the hair dryer request. I asked for one to be brought to the shower area, but the process was needlessly complicated. I had to go through the reservation system to contact the front desk, and after being told one would be sent, I waited 30 minutes without any delivery.
Finally, there was a sign advertising on-site activities for guests, which sounded like a great perk. However, when we inquired about where to meet for the activities, we were directed to the location but not informed that they were not happening that day. This lack of communication was disappointing, especially since it was one of the reasons we were excited about our stay.
Overall, The Tommi has a lot of potential, and with a few adjustments, it could be an excellent choice for travelers in Austin. However, these small but important details affected the experience, and I hope the hotel addresses them for future guests.
