When we arrived at the hotel, we were confronted with a locked front entrance gate and graffiti on the front wall (and not the street art kind). We went down a side street and entered through a service door to a dark back hallway greeted by the toilets and a temporary table with a hand written sign with a phone number and a dinger bell. Fortunately the proprietor was upstairs and heard us arrive. (Not to be the case the next four times we needed his attention). He did not speak a word of English. I understand this is France, but for someone in the hospitality industry - and the only human on site - to have to communicate with Google translate was less than ideal. We always choose hotels with restaurants and/or bars, but he informed us "the chef left 4 months ago and the restaurant and lobby is closed." Ugh. Room was small, but they tend to be in France, and up two flights of very steep narrow stairs. No minifridge which was a problem since we need to keep medication cold. No local TV which was a problem because we were there to follow the Rugby World Cup which was shown free to air. The shower didn't work, only the hand-held part did. Any of these issues we could have reported to a "normal" hotel front desk, but we could never reach our host. Tried Whatsapp and texting. He was very sweet and friendly when we did run into him. As other reviewers said, it did feel like a ghost hotel. I can't imagine anyone choosing this hotel deliberately. Stay away.

We've had so many extraordinary hotel experiences including 5 other than this over our 2 weeks in South of France that the bar is high. But no one answered phone when we tried to call due to a train delay to say would not be checking in until 6:30 ish...then when we arrived Hotel it simply said "Maison Bayard" and looked sketchy (front entrance blocked off and door knob removed enough we thought the Hotel might be in the vicinity, tried side door and found it unlocked. Found Folks who seemed pleasant but as confused as we were. Turns out restaurant, which was the strong suit of the property, closed in January. No elevator (fine but should be noted...step staircase). Room had been done well but some basics were missinh (kleenex, tea cups, bottled water; and the sink handle fell off. But other than the 3 we met when arrived there was no one on property again until we left accept someone who made up room while e=we were at lunch and the one of the three who couldn't understand English who came by second afternoon when someone beet on the side door and then called a number from their car. We slid key under "office" closed bar area of closed restaurant next mid-morning when left. We think we know where they're try to get when find chef or whatever to reopen or their just getting what can out of property as limp along. Not a terrible experience...but not close to as advertised nor our expectations.

Absence de service, de communication
La chambre a des défauts de conception comme l'absence de prise électrique à proximité du chauffe serviette de la salle de bain, pas de plans de travail dans la salle de bain facilement accessible pour la toilette, des prises électriques inutiles, une gestion laborieuse au inutilement compliquée des rideaux et lumières (et sans explications), café et thé pas très bon, angle de la rue bruyant le matin. De plus aucun service n'était présent et pas d'information, j'ai poireauté à l’accueil, le bar restaurant était en fait fermé alors que je comptais dessus, et personne n'a prévenu qu'il n 'y avait pas de petit dej donc je me suis retrouvé bien bête le matin et pas le temps pour m'organiser à en trouver un. Il n'y avait personne pour le check out, et aucune instruction. Problème aussi lors de la réservation, le numéro de téléphone disponible sur Internet sonne mais ne réponds pas ou ne rappelle pas. Déco sympa mais peu pratique

El peor hotel en el que he estado nunca.
Primero me cargaron el total del importe de la habitación antes de tiempo. Luego cancelé en tiempo una de las noches y aunque estaba a tiempo sin cancelación y pedi la devolución del importe, nunca me contestaron. Estuve intentando comunicar con el hotel porque iba a llegar tarde y nadie contestaba al teléfono. No había recepción, la puerta del hotel abierta, pero nadie en recepción, finalmente descubrí que estaba la llave en la puerta. 3 noches y no vi a nadie en recepción. Limpio pero con la luz del baño estropeada. Finalmente, no me han devuelto la noche no usada y avisada con el tiempo que permitía la reserva. Lo peor, HOTELES.COM dice que no puede hacer nada. SENCILLAMENTE NO ES DE FIAR. No volveré ni se lo recomiendo a nadie, muchos mejores hoteles cerca con más calidad y servicios. UN HORROR
