reach this part of our trip. Reservations had been made well in advance, and whenever possible we choose Embassy Suites. We were greeted by a friendly and professional hotel clerk. We exchanged pleasantries and even discussed our appreciation of a good hamburger. He was accomodating to our request of a room away from busy street noise.
The room was a huge disappointment. We had read from other reviews of the rundown status of the rooms and property, and the lack of cleanliness, but noted that recent reviews had provided 5 stars, so we were not concerned. The floors, furniture, walls, and curtain shades were stained and dirty. When I went to use the bathroom and wash my hands, I was hit by a foul, sewage like odor that was particularly strong over the bathroom sink. I even smelled the water thinking something was off with the water. Due to exhaustion, we decided the p-trap was in need of cleaning, and closed the bathroom door to keep smell out of room. Bed linen was clean. Cannot discuss pillows as we brought our own. Bed frame moved around easily and bed bounced every time one of us moved. Noise from traffic still loud, but guess it could have been worse. Air conditioning unit clunked loudly and hissed each time it kicked on/off. Standing water in shower during bathing, yuck! Clerk in am advised of concerns. Said he would make note of concerns of smell. We were awarded points for our inconvenience. Terrible night sleep and would NEVER recommend or stay here again.
