10/10 Exceptional

The staff was very helpful and went above board with information and tolerating an old couple with special needs. It is a great launching place to visit Ireland.
Craig, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

The room was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our toilet didn’t flush properly. Took 3 or 4 times to properly flush. Reported this and maintenance man said it was “normal”. I have never experienced a toilet like this, being described as normal. I had overheard another guest commenting about their toilet not working either. I also think there should be heated towel rails. We had to get our towels changed every day, as they were still damp the next day, when we were having a shower. This would certainly help the environment.

This seem like a nice hotel on the App, But the carpet in the hallway & room smells bad, the bathroom was not clean, the room had traffic noise , the restaurant food was below average!!

Geraldine, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Nice hotel. The room was great and we were offered an upgrade (for a fee) which was good. The pillows were a smallish and hard but not uncomfortable. The light switches were a challenge.
STEPHEN, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Very dissatisfied

Air conditioning cut off other electrical lights. Toilets do not flush well. The remotes to the TV did not work and had to be synced with TV. Was supposed to have 2 breakfast bags ready for our early departure - only to find out they never had them even though we paid for the breakfast. It was disappointing as this hotel looks very nice but is not up to par for the cost.

6/10 Good

A tale of two halves

I've been coming to Galway regularly for over 10 years, and at the beginning stayed in the Clayton quite often. First the good, which is that the rooms on the top floor are some of the nicest available, the seated area, large bath and walk-in shower, good bed, great housekeeping, all highly recommended. Some very minor maintenance issues, like Sky remote not working, shower door scraping on tiles, etc., but still fine for me. However, I gave the restaurant one of the worst reviews I have ever given all those years ago, and I was apprehensive when, having worked late, I decided to give it another go. There was only one other couple in there when I entered at 7:30 pm, which is never a good sign. I thought I would order something safe, so chicken wings and loaded fries, with Eton mess to follow. It was quite underwhelming (as is customary with almost all hotel food in Ireland), and I was reaquainted with it in the most unpleasant way at 2:00 am. I implore you to eat out, there are so many great places to choose from in the town. Sorry to everyone who doesn't work in the kitchen.
Matthew, 3-night trip
