Dangerous design, irresponsible manager
Extremely dangerous design and manager that dodges responsibility for dangerous design. We stayed in the suite with a fireplace and were woken up by a burning smell. The fireplace burns so hot that it melted the cover of a cushion on the sofa next to it. My mother even burned her hand while trying to remove it. The wall next to the fireplace is so hot it could cook a steak, I can only imagine what will happen if you to accidentally lean on the glass or metal frame. None of the fireplaces in the other hotel or our home are like this. It’s a safety hazard! For the safety of future guests, we voluntarily brought this up to the general manager, instead of thanking us or being concerned about my mother’s injury, he charged us hundreds for damages (only the backside of the cover of one cushion is damaged, so it’s easily reparable, but they priced it for all 3 cushions). They claim it’s about the details and “consistency”, but the old sofa already has discoloration, the dresser had stains, and the bathroom tiles are in a disgusting state (see for yourselves). The room is cramped with the sofa bed out, so only place to store the cushions would be on the sofa next to the fireplace. If placing the cushions there is creates a hazard, then don’t place a sofa so close to the fireplace to begin with! That fireplace is a ticking time bomb waiting for accidents to happen. There wasn’t any signs warning about the fireplace. They’re lucky my mother wasn’t seriously hurt.

Great location. Friendly staff on front desk. However, rooms are smaller that showed on website. Quite noisy, the was a dog barking inside the room across the first night and very noisy children very early in the morning.

One of favourite places to stay in Cannon beach, but we feel the rooms are being neglected. The bathrooms and very worn. The hand towels were as thin as kitchen towels. The carpets could use a good clean. The drape at the sliding door is water stained. That being said the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

We arrived in town and I couldn’t find any obvious phone contact on hotel site so I could call. Finally found text they sent me and requested check in that way. Went straight to our event because 20 mins ahead of 4:00 pm check in time room was not ready; waited for notification per hotel that room was ready. Never notified. Staff was very nice however and gave us a bottle of wine to compensate for not being able to check in at check in time. The check in time did impact our event as we weren’t able to freshen up (it was a professional photo shoot.) Room was tidy but not overly clean. Carpet was absolutely trashed. Room was a block away from check in office and on second floor, which made it hard for me as I am mobility impaired. Old fashioned key entry only and no door tag to request maid service — and we didn’t get any! Upon checking out we requested a receipt — they said they don’t do printed receipts and would email it to me. Still waiting. Otherwise they were very nice. There was a cute gift bag for our pet included. No elevator. No view.

Read the description very carefully
Make sure that you read the hotel description very carefully. We knew that there were different room types at the McGee cottages, but what we were not aware of was the vast difference between the two. One had a sitting area, kitchenette, larger rooms, etc. The one that we "picked" was barely a 10x10 room. It only had 1 outlet in the entire room, where the tv, lamp, and cable box were plugged into. The adjoining room walls were extremely thin and we could hear everything going on. We didn't have an ice bucket, and the only way to get room service was to call the main desk (which is two blocks away) not on location, the day of before noon. The staff was very friendly, they did find a make shift ice bucket for us to use. We needed some more towels one evening, while we were at the main office, we asked if we could get some, she told us she would have to drive over to our area to get them out of the closet there. It was going to be more of a hassle than what it was worth, but we appreciated them being willing to do it. I apparently didn't do my due diligence in reading the description of the room, and the picture is a little deceiving of the actual size of the room.

Slightly inconvenient to register a block away but at least it wasn’t raining. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Minor issues with the room but we pointed those out to the front desk—nothing that couldn’t wait. Super convenient to beach, shops and terrific places to eat. Can’t beat the crab bake feast at Wayfarer’s night before we checked out. Totally worth it. We’d stay again.

I can talk only about room 15! I recently stayed at this hotel with my family, and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations, especially considering we visit Cannon Beach three to four times a year and were excited to try this new place. First, the room was far too small for our party of four. It felt cramped, making it difficult for us to move around comfortably. And this space is not kid-friendly. The bathroom was another major concern. We encountered significant mold and rust around the bathroom especially in the celling and around the shower box, which was quite unsettling. Additionally, the shower was so low that I, who is over six feet tall, struggled to take a proper shower. It was inconvenient and uncomfortable. We attempted to use the fireplace, but it emitted a strong gas smell that forced us to open the windows and leave the room for fresh air. Managing this while keeping an eye on our two kids was challenging and added to our stress. Finally, when we requested room service for cleaning, the results were disappointing. It seemed as though the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly, which reminded me of how my six-year-old might clean her own room—more of a quick tidy-up than an actual deep clean. they didn't even vacuum the floor from the sand!!!!! Overall, our experience at this hotel did not align with the price we paid. We were hoping for a relaxing getaway, but instead, we found ourselves quite disappointed.
