Great room and very friendly staff. Requested for two twin beds and staff were very prompt with getting back to me.

This guesthouse is an interesting use of an old schoolhouse in an area of Iceland with only a few other options. We found it a great stopover, and it has a relationship with the neighboring Fontana baths, a developed hot spring facility.

Excellent place to stay, only the lack of elevator would be the downside.

Beautiful building with nice decoration. But there has no pantry for ppls to cook dinner/ prepare breakfast

The place is historic and has a lot of character. The breakfast buffett was very good - not included with the room but the price was reasonable. You have to take your shoes off while inside the guesthouse which is inconvenient when going in and out with luggage but not bad while inside.

thin walls

The only issue we had was the noise in the hall coming through the door and walls till everyone settled down at night. Otherwise a nice stay and location. Hot spring pool just down the street. Also several restaurants close by.

Dan at check in was amazing. The property is much nicer than advertised with avant-garde interior design. Has a library etc. This place has sumptuous meals and has nothing to do with being a hostel. Our room had a sea view and we were awoken by the chirping birds each am as we left the windows open. Highly recommended

False Advertising

The place was fine, but it was not as advertised. We ended up having to leave a day early as a result. Do not trust the pictures.

Great location, clean and comfortable stay!

This guest house is very clean and well maintained. The location was excellent, and we lucked out with a great northern lights show in mid-Sept. Our room was on the 3rd floor, there was no shower on that floor so we went down to the 2nd floor for showers, but not a big deal (no waiting, though the inn was pretty full). The breakfast was excellent, and the house spacious and truly historic. There are many rooms and open areas to relax and read, even a yoga room in the basement. The guests were all quiet and peaceful. Shoes are removed at the entry, which helps to keep it clean. If stairs are a problem, you should request a room on the 2nd floor, an elevator goes up to that level.
Courtney, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The room layout is worse than in a typical college dorm - two beds are together and not separate. Practically no closet space and drawer space. Rooms on top floor are under the roof slant that decreases room volume. But the worst thing is the scarcity of bathrooms - there is only 1 bathroom on the 3rd floor and only 2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor. Completely inadequate for the number of rooms in this guesthouse. The quality of rooms and amenities is only 2 stars (or even 1 star). The only nice thing about this guesthouse was the restaurant (good food and service, very reasonably priced) and the friendliness of staff (even though the front desk closes at 9 p.m.)

Terrible place to get rest

While the room was clean and comfortable we couldn’t sleep. Parties and loud noises all night. We wanted to rest and ended up having a terrible night. No one cared about the noise. I asked them if it’s normally like this. Terrible place to stay.
