This was my 2nd time visiting this resort and it never disappoints. I was given a personal concierge who made dinner reservations for the entirety of my stay, she sent daily schedules for activities and messaged me every morning and throughout the day to ensure my satisfaction.

The property is great, the rooms are good size. The property is located in the middle of a big road between playa del carmen and Tulum and there’s nothing around. You need to take a taxi if you want to go downtown Tulum, or playa del Carmen and the taxi prices are ridiculously expensive. You can’t take uber in here. I would recommend this place if you have a car or if you plan to stay in the hotel the whole time.

They were very pushy in selling their time share that they said wasn’t a timeshare, but it was. They told us the meeting would only be 90 minutes, but we were there closer to 3 hours.

Our experience at the resort was largely positive. The grounds were beautiful, everything was clean, and we particularly enjoyed the pools and the attentive service. The staff across the resort were also very friendly. However, the check-in process was frustratingly slow. Additionally, we were aggressively approached by timeshare salespeople who provided dishonest information regarding the incentives for attending their presentations (like free breakfast, drinks, massages, and cabanas). The quality of the food was average for a resort and varied depending on the restaurant.

Unico was an excellent hotel for those who like great food, great service and enjoy sitting by the pool. If you prefer to sit at the beach this resort is not for you at this time of year. The seaweed I know they cannot help, but the beach was not as maintained or serviced as the pools. Also many weddings at this venue, they make sure to turn the on property weddings end at 10pm. The next door venue had fireworks at 11pm each night and loud music until 2am. Overall would highly recommend based on the food and service alone! they truly do their best to make it an exceptional experience.

Overall it was a very solid experience. Food was good and service was great. Cocktails were the thing they did best, everywhere we went they were delicious. Food options did feel a bit limited after a few days. The resort had a horrible smell as you got close to the beach because of seaweed. More so than other places in area so would encourage they increase clean up efforts. While not totally their fault made using the pool only option and smell carried over to the pool area too. Not hotels fault but cab situation was a bit of mess and pricing was all over the place (generally incredibly expensive / inflated) making it economically impractical to leave resort (e.g., round trip to Tulum 30 mins away was $200 or playa del Carmen was $160). Rooms were good, but felt a bit “dirtier” than you would expect for a place of this quality. I probably wouldn’t go back, but could understand if others enjoyed it more than I did.

Everything on the property was amazing. Everything was very well maintained and clean. The only issue was the seaweed but I know that is not the fault of the resort. We would have liked to get in the ocean however. Our poolside waiter, Marcos, was absolutely awesome. Our concierge, Daisy, was also absolutely awesome. The restaurants were great especially the Asian place. I wish it was closer to Cancun proper so we could have gone to the markets or something like that but that was not an option. There were not many tours offered either. We wanted to go see the pyramids but there was no tour for that. The pool was also very warm, bordering on hot. I think if the resort would build some sort of shade over the pool it will make it much more enjoyable. Overall it was a great stay and I would recommend it to my friends.

My husband and I came for a kid free relaxing vacation and the Unico 2087 did not disappoint. We got a swim out room behind one of the main pools and it was a prime location. Not super private if that’s what you are looking for. But we loved the location. The pool waiter would come by and get us drinks and food. We especially love Daniel and Saul made the best drinks. We would enjoy the main pools in the morning and head to our room pool in the afternoon. We were close enough to the main pool we could still enjoy the music. One of my favorite parts of the day was the crafts the resort put on daily. We painted sunsets and did some bead work. It was lots of fun and gave us neat souvenirs. As for the food it was some of the best food we have ever had on vacation. We tried every restaurant but our two favorites were the Mexican restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. Overall if you are looking for an adults only relaxing vacation we great food this is the resort for you.

Wonderful trip

Our trip to Tulum at Unico Hotel was fantastic. It was my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort, and I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing every restaurant at Unico was. The service was excellent! The only downside was that they kept trying to sell us additional things at the hotel.
