Comfortable stay at the park
Nice stay in the park. One drawback is you have to drive elsewhere for dinner on some nights and the roads are along the mountain. When we stayed, the restaurant was closed Wednesdays and Tuesdays. Breakfast was hot and tasty and available every day.

There were some items inside the room that were very dirty, like the fan and the VHS unit under the TV. It appeared that they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.

There a serious issues with the management of this place. It is next to a natural park, so higher prices are expected due the artificial scarcity of offerings. However the lack of effort needed to hark in the cash was clear. I wanted to make the most of my time in the park, so stay out till sunset and get moving at sunrise. This very basic expectation is impossible due to the minimal services. After 1900 no-one is left of the personnel, so no food, or any thing else. Then breakfast was super late, starting at 0800 only. The room was very basic, which I did not mind. What I did mind was that the folks at the desk were not very competent. There was apparently some issue with payment, despite Expedia already withholding the funds at reservation. The guy at the reception was a bomb of nerves, did not seem to understand much, and was just pushing for another payment ASAP, ignoring the Expedia intermediary completely. This made me loose even more time. Also there were some rough folk in the shop/reception that were uncough. I think they worked on the property or nearby, but were seriously unpleasant due to their verbal aggression to another worker. All in all, the location was perfect, but not in my right mind would I stay in this place again, not for the 270$ I paid, or the 100$ it was worth.

The staff are very very nice! From the moment we arrived Todd offered to take our cooler upstairs for us. He’s also the cook and makes a great breakfast! The breakfast is awesome with hot and cold choices and more. The lodge itself is ok. The history of the place is interesting and has a number of old pics to look at and appreciate. The common room was nice and big and has a coffee machine and microwave to heat up food for dinner ( the onsite restaurant closes at 8 or earlier if it’s not busy). The maintenance of this place though has been deferred for quite sometime. The walls are paper thin and the air vent for the wall heater is open to the exterior hall. There’s no A/C but they have a ceiling fan and a portable one also. There’s no fridge but the one cool thing is they give you a bag of ice each day for your cooler. The room and the bathroom was clean but there were some areas with a good amount of dust. Bathroom sink was pretty slow to drain. The room entry is by card ( they put your room number on it). The staff all leave by 8 or 8:30pm and there are some that live in a separate building on site that you can call if needed. One night another couple’s card key stopped working and they had to call a manger to come and make a new one. They lived over an hour away and they didn’t get into their room until 11. That’s kind of different! Loads of parking and also a trail access and there is a gas station! Great place to see the Milky Way!

Todd at Lodge was great and very helpful. Breakfast and Dinner were great. Especially for a park. Todd was very helpful and had many roles. Very friendly, he was the cook and did a great job on the meals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Stoney Creek Lodge, with its charm and superior customer service. The rooms were clean and functional. The staff were warm and helpful with advice on outdoor excursion recommendations. The one item that surprised us was the small diner that included more than pizza as we had seen in advertisements. They also included a complimentary morning continental breakfast.

Out in the middle of the national park, a comfortable lodge. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfortable for a night's stay. There is a convenience store and a small restaurant. We had pizza in the restaurant and it was mediocre. But it is the only restaurant around so at least it was a hot meal! The morning breakfast was quite good, however. We enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed staying “in” the park. The lodge was quiet at night. We could see so many stars! No AC, but ceiling fan and a fan were provided. The room was clean, but there was a strong, unpleasant odor from the cleaning solutions I guess? If you stay in a National Park, this was just right.

The room smelt heavily of cleaner fluids, even while leaving all the windows open. Other than that, we loved the convenience of the location in Sequoia National Forest in between Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.

Not Recommend for Summer Days
We decided to leave and find another hotel outside of the park area after we checked-in to Stony Creek Lodge. After reading all the reviews I was prepared for a basic stay, but it didn’t even live up to that standard, the place is certainly lacking maintenance. But my biggest issues are: 1. no air conditioning, I understand the climate is usually cool in the park area, but if you visit during hot summer days, it can be very unpleasant for most of the day. 2. Location wise, it’s not very convenient either, still 10-20 miles away from main attractions/visitor centers in Sequoia or Kings Canyon, keep in mind, the road is winding, such distance takes much longer to drive 3. They do have wi-fi, but very spotty, we basically can’t connect it the whole time there. 4. Hot water takes 15 mins to get.
