We paid ~$400/night for 4-5 nights in a room with 2 beds. So it wasnโt cheap.
Pros - you can get to any tours that start near Times Square and also get to the subway easily. Hellโs Kitchen restaurants are a couple blocks away. Itโs one of the few options that offers 2 real beds. Beds are comfortable. Convenient access to Port Authority for buses.
Cons - rundown hotel rooms, staff that doesnโt care (or is overworked) when things are broken - from AC to hot water to shower leaks, never answers the phone, housekeeping may not happen every day even if you ask for it. May not have a refrigerator. Also - 40th St between 8th and 9th (where the hotel is) is full of trash, and there are unhoused people on the dirty sidewalks - guests not used to this may not be comfortable walking down there.
During our stay, a week of 90+deg temps, our first room didnโt have A/C or fan/ventilation working and was not habitable. They sent people to fix it, then the staff shift changed and didnโt log or share the information with the next shift, so we started again. We sat in the lobby until 1am until somehow they found us another room. That new room had a shower that leaked all over the bathroom floor but at least the fan and A/C worked.
We tried not to spend too much time in the room.
