Westerpark is a massive urban public park that offers a wide variety of things to see and do, including walking paths, water features and public art installations. This formerly small 19th-century park has merged with the now defunct municipal gas installations to create a massive public space for all to enjoy.
Anyone who loves visiting a park will find fun here, but that's just the beginning. Several attractions can be found in the Westergasfabriek area of the park, including cafes and a cinema. Most people spend about 2 or 3 hours here, but your visit could easily last all day.

Westerpark highlights
When you visit Westerpark, you'll find that it's split into 2 distinct sections. The old park section still feels like a small neighbourhood park, and it's useful for those looking for a pleasant stroll or bike ride.
When you visit the new park section, you'll find yourself in Westergasfabriek, the former municipal gas centre. Here, you'll see outdoor tables along with 2 coffee shops for refreshments. This area of the park boasts a long, rectangular pool that's open to the public. The pool is especially refreshing for a swim with the kids on a hot day.

Before you visit Westerpark, keep a few things in mind. Given that much of the park is traversable via bicycle, you'll also find that it's wheelchair accessible. Additionally, you can enjoy the park all year long, though some parts may be sectioned off for events at times. Be sure to check the calendar before your visit.
Located in the centre of the neighbourhood of the same name, Westerpark brings you close to several other fun attractions in town. Haarlemmerbuurt is located just a few steps to the east, while the town centre is about a mile to the southeast.
