This is my third stay at the hotel. The prior stays were fairly satisfactory; however, during second day, the shower was not functioning and there was no hot water. We had to participate in a series of business meetings without a shower (we weren't brave enough to take cold shower in the midst of the recent freezing snowstorm). The receptionists were fairly brusque and unapologetic about the situation. When we returned to the hote that evening, they handed us a little envelope containing a $10 voucher from some leftover promotion and simply said, "oh, this is for the hot water."
We were ready to call the manager and make a phone call to the headquarters office, but found that the hotel had reduced the rate for just the first night to half upon our check-out. The receptionist didn't even know because when I had asked for a reduction in the rate due to our inconvenience, she said "I will see what I can do" and then was shocked to find that the rate had already been reduced.
I suspect they had offered this to guests who complained loudly, but not to the others; when it was uncovered, they probably offered to everyone across the board. This is a shameless business practice and we will definitely look for other venues for our next trip to the region. The hotel also did not honor our request for a quiet room, probably because we booked through a discount site.
