Im Ganzen war die Unterkunft in einem alten Stil gebaut, was schon sehr nostalgisches an sich hat und deshalb interessant ist. Wer alt nicht mag, sollte sich etwas anderes suchen. Ansonsten finde ich generell das die Hotels aktuell teuer in den USA sind. Der Preis für das Hotel war auch nicht günstig. Es gibt dennoch 4 Sterne von mir. Denn Sauberkeit ist das wichtigste für uns. Das Zimmer was wir hatten, war sauber.

Take a step back in time when you go thru the doors at Stearns. We loved that lots of old features had been retained and the lady on reception was really helpful and recommended a fab place to eat a short walk away. The outside looks run down and needs a bit of TLC.

Not impressed...
The building is very old. It felt like a funeral parlor when entering. The rooms were very small and bathroom even smaller. There was not even any counter space to set your toothbrush on...an exaggeration but nonetheless... The room only had one side table with a lamp next to the bed. The other side had nothing. For the amount of money paid, we were very disappointed and glad it was only a one night stay. The hotel is in desperate need of updating.

The building and rooms are historic and beautiful. It will not be your taste if you like modern! The place is well taken care of and staff was very helpful. It is right on the edge of the downtown area so very convenient for catching the boat and dining nearby. Bed was comfortable and had good water pressure in the large bathtub. I liked it.

Everything was five star except the overall score. We loved the atmosphere and real hotel (not motel) environment. It was like stepping back in time. Super clean. However, I down graded the overall score for two reasons: first, the firm bed was the hardest bed I slept on in the seven motels/VRBO stays within the previous two weeks; second, the AC temperature varied such that there was a cold-warm-cold-warm cycle all night. I could have overlooked the AC issue if the bed had not been so firm.

Will not return to this hotel.
We spent 3 nights at Stearns Hotel, and will not be back. The hotel was very shabby and had a pervasive foul smell throughout, particularly in the entire lobby area. It was something like a mixture of really bad coffee, stale cigarette smoke and a poorly maintained latrine. The coffee in the room and the lobby was as bad as we've ever had, and our room had a smell the A/C unit could not dispel, even when cranked down low with the fan constantly roaring on high. Fortunately the bed was comfortable, but that's the best thing our stay had going for it. We spent as little time at the hotel as possible, staying out later then we normally would just to avoid going back there. I also think it was unreasonably expensive for such poor quality. We only chose it because we needed to be close to the marina where our friends live on their boat, which was not large enough to accommodate guests, and there were no other options close by.
