Go somewhere else.
When we arrived at the property, there was a shirtless man nodding out in the parking lot.
Upon entering the lobby, there was nobody attending the front desk, and another upset customer showed us a video of bedbugs discovered in her room after being bitten by them.
Being that it was late at night, and having a child with me, I made the assessment that the hotel was unsafe and unsanitary, and asked to cancel my reservation once someone had come back. Keep in mind - I DID NOT CHECK IN. I was told that hotels.com would have to do it by the desk clerk, and that she was unable (unwilling) to do so.
The customer service folks at hotels.com told me it was the hotelโs duty, and phoned the manager, who outright refused to refund my money because "bookings made after a 3PM window are an "instabooking," and are not refundable. I made my reservation 50 minutes before arrival, not a calendar day before. This instabooking policy was not stated in the hotels.com booking page, and seemed to be a policy of the manager that he came up with on the spot.
Being that I had not checked in, received no services, and did not stay - I reported this as credit card fraud with my bank. I've already left feedback with Motel 6 corporate, and will be making a phone call to the county health department as well. Avoid this place and go anywhere else.
