On check in we found the ladies bathroom to be out of order indicating plumbing issues and the gents toilet had no working light, the staff would have known at this point that there were issues with the plumbing system and with running water but failed to advise us of this. Our first impression of the hotel was that we were unable to see out the filthy windows and the carpets on the stairs were threadbare and in need of replacement. On entering the room later that evening the strong smell was disgusting and the bathroom did not look as though it had been serviced. The shower was dirty and under the sink the door was hanging off indicating again problems with plumbing in the hotel. In the morning we went to shower and our suspicion of a plumbing issue became real, no hot water which is totally unacceptable, more alarming the hotel reception played this complaint down as if it was just the norm. I asked to speak with manager at reception and was advised it was the managers last day and there would be a new manager tomorrow. I felt secure in the knowledge I would be issued a full refund with having booked through Hotels.com however without the want of trying I have been advised that โas subject to the rules and restrictions of the vendor they do not have the authority to change or override their policiesโ I feel totally let down by Hotels.com as no refund will be given, over the years I have always used this company over any other.

The hotel room was dirty and dusty, with curtains hanging off the rail. Room was cramped with bathroom only 2 steps from bed. Toilet was dirty and shower had black mould on bottom and round ill-fitting door. Rest of the hotel was dated and dirty. We paid for 2 nights but left after one, cancelling breakfast also as we decided hygiene may be an issue in the kitchen, if rest of hotel was the standard.
Receptionist was pleasant enough but didn't ask why we were leaving early. We've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and don't mind dated decor etc but the red line is cleanliness. The hotel is damaging Dunkeld's reputation as a charming, friendly little town. Melville Hotels need to have a good look at themselves.

the staff were friendly, but the room was very basic, the gutter outside the door needed maintenance which caused water to pour out during the night, keeping us awake. Lovely location, but the annex rooms need a lot more love.

Property was run down. Room was comfortable but toilet did not flush, the seal on the shower was broken and the curtains did not cover the window. When we asked the noisy Halloween disco if they could go ish the music they insisted on continuing until after midnight even though there was nobody there.

Very old building and it was a little confusing trying to find the entrance. Room was on the top floor which was a bit difficult for my elderly father.

1 night stay on way home.Sadly quite typical of Scottish Hotels run down & shabby.Staff nice & food good .Bathroom small but clean shower door hanging off.Room very warm & window didn't open.

The hotel was conveniently located and clean. It was not easy to find staff to check in or get room supplies. The room was clean, but spare. No towel rack, no tissue, no pictures on walls. Lacked appeal. Seemed like a dorm room. Breakfast choices were plentiful and well prepared. Pub was cozy and convenient. Pub and dining staff were friendly and helpful.

The heat didn't work in Unit 202. On the second day the lovely receptionist gave me a space heater. She was great, the best.
The two regulars in the bar area were awful. They were looking for fights. Big disappointment.
Great location and clean.
Internet worked great. Overall a nice stay.

Hotel felt fairly dirty and run down, very under staffed. Room rate was expensive and didnโt include breakfast.
General feel was that the hotel has โgiven up on lifeโ, is merely surviving on the over flow business they get during wedding season by charging ridiculous rates knowing people have little option.
The few staff that were there were very pleasant but sadly not enough to make me ever want to stay at this overpriced sinking ship again.
