If you want to be by the caverns, location is perfect. Itโ€™s also a good spot that itโ€™s close to National parks and Carlsbad, right in between. My biggest complaint is that they claim to be a non smoking hotel, but we got a โ€œpet friendlyโ€ room (when we didnโ€™t need it after all) but you can tell that building used to be the smoking rooms because the smell of smoke was horrible. We were there three nights, and to be honest I regretted that decision. The pool was extremely cold, only one slide was functioning and even my kiddos who love to swim no matter what, didnโ€™t want to stay in too long because it was so cold lol. I would have definitely moved to Carlsbad to another hotel knowing what I know now, but shame on us, I guess we shouldโ€™ve asked to switch rooms. Plus, you better eat before you get out there or bring food. They do have a restaurant next door that closes at 3, and is closed on Sunday. They do warn you about this ahead of time though.

The property was well maintained and the room was clean, including the bathroom, which is the worst part of many places. The front desk person was friendly and gave us relevant info. The pool looked amazing and we would have used it if we stayed longer. It also has specific hours for kids, and later hours for just adults which sounds great. Only downside was the free breakfast is pretty bare bones, but free, so hard to complain too much.

Great Stay, but grocery shop before arriving!

We really enjoyed our stay here (which was 4 days) as a family! The gentleman who checked us in was nice and we never had any negative reactions with any of the employees. The waterpark was very important to us since we was there over a holiday weekend! And, although it rained we had a great time! Ride the slide...it is fun! The room was spacious, clean, the bed was comfortable and the ac was cold. They also have nice grill and picnic sections (bring charcoal). The ONLY negative was that they say there's a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, a grocery store, and gas station in super close proximity...and it is. BUT, they failed to say the restaurant has super weird hours and isn't open for dinner. We didn't find out until check in. We decided that's okay and went across to the street to the grocery store thinking we'd get some microwave food or cheap eats...that was also not true. The grocery store was barely a store at all. We had to drive 30 minutes back to Carlsbad everytime we wanted food. And, no there is no delivery services. We did find a walmart and dollar tree...so, just be aware if you're coming from Carlsbad, stop and get some groceries/food before check in!

We came to see the caverns, and realized it was literally at the entrance of the park. Upon check-in, the desk clerk was helpful and gave us some tips. The room was surprisingly nice. Is it the fanciest place to stay? No. You're also not paying for fancy. This was a perfect spot to be close to the caverns. It was good for the price. I've seen a couple of complaints about bugs... its a hotel in the middle of a desert area with almost nothing else around. It's to be expected. I had a couple of bug buddies, nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about. I'd stay here again if I wanted to visit the caverns again.
