The Elleray is pub/hotel itโs a traditional old building with sash windows, a dining area/lounge, bar and an outdoor beer garden. For the age and style of the building it was very clean in the rooms and public areas. The rooms are comfortable with a big telly, tea/coffee etc. The staff were excellent and friendly and helpful, the food was excellent as well and very tasty. They have a variety of drinks available including local guest ales although I didnโt try any, only thing Iโd mention is if youโre a Guinness drinker itโs the nitro surge which isnโt that nice but thatโs just personal choice. If you are in a vehicle parking is an issue, thereโs no parking on site or in the road next door, you can park on the main road overnight but during the day itโs only for an hour but I managed ok whilst there, you can also park in the rail station car park which you pay for. If youโre travelling by train the station is literally on the same road just a few minutes away, thereโs also an excellent Chinese restaurant next door which was very tasty and popular. Overall Iโd definitely recommend the Elleray, itโs ideal if youโre in a car for exploring and if youโre a walker youโll enjoy the hike up the road from Bowness! But even if you just want a nice little break in a nice area itโs great. The only thing I would point out is the noise from the beer garden, it wasnโt from the Elleray but a pub further down, it didnโt bother us but if it does you Iโd ask for a room on the front or the side.
