Chaloklum and Haad Mae Haad beaches are on the northwestern coast of Koh Phangan. Chaloklum Beach itself is 2.5 km long, with a small village and pier in the middle. Colourful, long-tail fishing boats moor along the immediate shoreline while Chinese-style wooden restaurants, villas and shophouses line the main street. The pier is one of Koh Phangan’s favourite fishing locations. The surrounding mountains and hills create shelter from the wind, creating perfect conditions for wakeboarding.
Mae Haad features several bungalow operations with a couple of resorts on the beachfront. The northern end of the beach has a sand bar connected to Koh Ma at low tide. Relaxed, quiet and atmospheric, Mae Haad’s character is the complete opposite to the brashness of Haad Rin on the opposite side of Koh Phangan.
