Valley of Fire State Park is a popular destination boasting deep-red Aztec sandstone outcrops situated amongst grey and tan limestone mountains across 40,000 acres. The sandstone is believed to be from the Jurassic Period after the oceans receded and the land rose. The park is home to petroglyphs from over 2,000 years ago, as well as ancient petrified trees.

In 1912, a road was created through the area to connect Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. The park was designated Nevada’s first state park in 1935 and quickly became a popular spot for visitors.
