After navigating our way through outdoor tables littered with dirty glasses, things started to go wrong on check-in. Sad as being from 3pm, at 4.10pm he room wasnโt ready. Ok, it was 10 mins later but we realised later this was only achieved through cutting corners. Hairs in bath, no teaspoons, only 2 milk cartons, carpet not vacuumed, cobwebs in one bedside light and other one not working, virtually no loo roll, soap dispenser and shower gel dispenser not working. We booked this 2 night stay with filter for โbreakfast includedโ but staff advised not so. On complaining to manager, he eventually was persuaded that breakfast would be provided at no charge. However, breakfast turned out to be only for that first morning, as the violent drunken argument in the next room (to which police were called and an arrest made) disturbed us for 3 hours in the middle of the night. We advised the manager we would not stay for the second night due to all the above factors, and that we would expect a refund via hotels.com. Very disappointing to then see later that, according to hotels.com, he had refused to sanction a refund. This is an over-priced room above a pub, proven by our move down the road for ยฃ50 a night less, breakfast included and staff who knew what they were doing.
