Excellent breakfast
Great hotel, a little run down, but clean and friendly and helpful (but over worked) staff. Excellent breakfast! Parking is free, but crowded.

Stayed with a colleague whilst working in the area.Dont be put off by the reviews.Rooms are a little dated but if your looking for a decent double bed , clean bathroom with powerful hot shower, smart tv , you can’t go far wrong staying here.I work up and down the country and have stayed in far worse hotels for a lot more money.Walking distance into town too.

Okay central hotel
Decent hotel, just a short walk from the main town center. Close to local bike routes too.
The room was okay, and was clean, but the bed mattress was a little old, and sunken.

Luckily only booked for one night as I was passing through, as others have mentioned the hotel is in dire need of renovation, and could do with better cleaning

It was a very tired hotel with the bare essentials , no plugs near the bed and sadly we had some noisy neighbours that came in at god knows what time…. Breakfast was self service which was fine … but no staff about….on the plus there was plenty of hot water 👍

Good stop-over bed for the night
It’s a great place if you need a stop over towards north. I didn’t expect luxury for that price but it has all what it needs to get a rest. Nice bed, got a good nights sleep and shower and carried on early the next day so I cannot say much about the breakfast.

Great value, comfortable stay
This hotel was perfectly placed, and very comfortable for a family stay. Staff were fantastic, in particular Shanice who checked us in and answered all our questions about our short visit to the city, and was very friendly. Very comfortable sleep and a good breakfast the following day. We would definitely stay again, very well priced and overall a very positive stay.

Well worth the money
Don’t be put off by the exterior. Staff very friendly. Room freshly decorated and very clean only let down by a poor mattress.

The only reason to choose it is because it's cheap, but all we wanted was a bed for the night to break the journey from north of Scotland to South coast. Arrived at 9pm, left at 8:30am, straight after basic but perfectly adequate cooked breakfast.
Run down appearance, looks like it was the equivalent of a Travelodge that was decommissioned but still operating as a hotel. The morning receptionist was friendly and helpful. Parking free. Not somewhere to stay with children or as a treat in anyway, but if you just want very cheap accommodation to break a journey, it was fine.

The GPS will put you out on the main street and there will a large hill where you think it is supposed to be. It is on top of the hill so go up and to the right to find the check-in area.
The room was adequate and okay for the price. The bathroom was not very clean and the room was outdated but again, it was a good price so you get what you pay for.
I can't recommend it because of the overpowering smell of fecal matter when you first walk into the building. The restaurant/bar area was next to it but there was no way I was going to eat or drink there. The smell was confined to the front area but still.
Nice staff.

Pleasant Stay
Perfect for a short stay.
Not the most visually attractive building but served our needs.
Probably one of the best breakfasts ive ever had and well worth the £8
Staff were very nice and extremely helpful.
Our room had a smell when we arrived. We were told that after heavy rain the deains backed up. It was away by morning and there was no water ingress. We would return.

Concerns about my selection were unfounded
I stayed in this property number of years and it was very run down, in need of some TLC. Please to say rooms have been redecorated and are comfortable.
Didn't try the food as busy seeing friends but they appeared to have deals on most days

It’s a good hotel location to get to Lake District, free large car park. Friendly greeting at reception on check-in. Should also mention handy EV charger (fast charger) for EV cars (which I used) just off main road. So not only can you recharge your battery but also the cars.

Rest stop on the way to Belfast
Receptionist was a bit cold and unfriendly by asking if I was from Tyneside when I am in fact from the borders of Scotland!
Lots of rough white van man types in shorts staying at the hotel who weee loud and noisy til 2 am .
Room was nice and cheap for the price paid but dated
10 minutes walk to a nearby Asda as a cold drink from the hotel bar costs £3-50 and is in a bottle as they don’t do draft drinks from a pump.
Like a can of cheap beans you get what you pay for and this hotel does its job

Cheap for a reason
Slow check in as only one member of staff available and she was also serving food and running the bar. Several people had arrived to find that despite their reservations the hotel didn’t have a room for them. They were not happy. It took two trips back to reception to have my room entry card reprogrammed before I was able to get into my room. The room was average but tired

There is plenty of parking there contrary to some of the info I saw. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were good and rooms spacious.and warm. The hotel could do with modernization as it looks tired however it's reflected in the price. My stay was pleasant and I would stay again.
